RAC Arena Stadium Digital Signage
Client: LucentHD (USA)
Scope: Full LED Display Installation, Custom Engineering & Scoreboard Hoist Systems
In February 2024, LucentHD, a leading U.S.-based digital signage integration company with over 200 major sporting venue installations across North America, was awarded the contract to upgrade the iconic centerhung scoreboard at RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia.
With no local operations in Perth, LucentHD partnered with Visicomm to bring their ambitious vision to life.
⸻
Project Scope
Visicomm was responsible for the full installation of over 300 square meters of LED display infrastructure, including:
• A new four-sided centerhung scoreboard with two underside displays
• A floating HALO LED ring above the scoreboard
• Dual 50sqm wall ribbons
• Custom sponsor signage fitted to the underside and interior of the new scoreboard
Engineering & Installation Challenges
The installation of the wall ribbons posed a significant challenge. Positioned 3 metres above the uppermost arena seating, the site was inaccessible by crane or elevated work platform (EWP). Visicomm engineered a custom installation method that involved:
• Lowering the displays from the roof catwalks
• Securing the installation using a combination of rolling scaffold and rope access
This innovative approach allowed the team to deliver on schedule and within budget, despite a tightly packed arena event calendar.
⸻
Technical Integration & Hoist Systems
LucentHD also required local expertise to decommission the existing and commission new roof-mounted hoist systems and control infrastructure for raising and lowering the scoreboard.
With a team holding over 100 years of combined LED and industry experience, Visicomm was the natural choice. The team pivoted quickly to execute the integration seamlessly.
⸻
A Modular Design for a Multi-Purpose Arena
One of the most distinctive features of the new scoreboard is its modular design, which allows it to be easily disassembled and reassembled to accommodate different event configurations at RAC Arena.
⸻
Result:
A cutting-edge scoreboard installation, delivered through smart engineering, local expertise, and seamless collaboration between Visicomm and LucentHD—positioning RAC Arena at the forefront of live event technology in Australia.

JCDecaux - Digital Signage, Terminal 4, Perth Airport
Client: JCDecaux & QANTAS
Scope: Digital Display Decommissioning, Design, Fabrication & Installation
When the digital check-in and advertising display at Terminal 4 (T4) Perth Airport reached end-of-life, global media leader JCDecaux and airline partner QANTAS turned to Visicomm— their trusted long-term delivery partner—to lead the complex upgrade.
⸻
The Challenge
The project involved a live airport environment, tight timeframes, and minimal disruption to QANTAS operations. With just seven overnight shifts to complete the full replacement, the site presented logistical, operational, and engineering constraints.
⸻
Our Solution
Visicomm was responsible for:
• Design and engineering of the new electrical infrastructure and custom display substructure
• Decommissioning the existing end-of-life display
• Manufacturing and offsite assembly of all new components
• Installation and commissioning within a highly constrained time window
To reduce time onsite and minimise impact on terminal operations, the team pre-assembled and tested the entire display—structure, LED panels, wiring, and startup—offsite. This proactive approach ensured a seamless integration with no room for error.
⸻
Execution Excellence
Installation required navigating narrow access routes and operating within a secure, live terminal. Visicomm’s planning included:
• Use of specialist access equipment (spider cranes, EWPs)
• Precise coordination of personnel and logistics
• Fabrication designed for modular transport through glass sliding terminal doors
• A complete test-and-commission cycle prior to onsite arrival, allowing rapid final hookup
The entire display was successfully lifted, positioned, and secured during a single short night shift, with minimal on-site commissioning required.
⸻
Outcome
Visicomm’s forward-thinking methodology, combined with precise execution and logistical expertise, delivered a high-impact result—on time and on budget—without disrupting daily airport operations.
This level of performance is what continues to differentiate Visicomm from traditional integrators and why clients like JCDecaux and QANTAS continue to entrust Visicomm with mission-critical projects.

JCDecaux Digital Billboard Project
Client: JCDecaux
Scope: Digital Billboard Structure Design, Fabrication & Installation
In 2024, JCDecaux engaged Visicomm to deliver a high-impact digital billboard installation on the Brixton Street overpass, located along one of Perth’s busiest highways. The project presented a unique mix of engineering, logistical, and traffic management challenges, demanding a creative and precisely executed solution.
⸻
The Challenge
Due to the volume of traffic, a full highway closure was not an option for the week-long installation. Visicomm needed to maintain live traffic flow while safely executing structural works above the roadway.
⸻
Our Solution
The Visicomm team developed and implemented a custom installation methodology that enabled:
• Continuous access to at least one lane of the highway
• Rapid, staged deployment of the framework and digital billboard structure
• Completion of the full install within just one week
⸻
Precision Planning & Execution
To meet the technical complexity of the site, Visicomm undertook:
• Multiple 3D laser scans of the bridge and surrounding area
• CAD modeling of the bridge geometry, curves, and angles
• Detailed engineering and fabrication planning
This data-driven approach ensured that all components were precisely prefabricated off-site and seamlessly installed, with minimal disruption to traffic and zero compromise on safety or quality.
⸻
Outcome
Visicomm delivered a turnkey installation that met JCDecaux’s high standards for design integrity, efficiency, and execution—while minimizing public disruption on a live roadway.
